Thank yiu for visiting my website.
I was born in Port-au-Prince, Haïti. I grew up in the village of Fermathe, in the municipality of Kenscoff. Fermathe is unquestionably my hometown. It is located up on the hills that surround Port-au-Prince in the southeast.
I attended a few schools in Pétion-Ville and in Fermathe. I completed my secondary education at the local Baptist high school (Collège Baptiste de Fermathe). After my secondary education, I was among a group of 27 students who were selected to participate in a scholarship program in the United States. That opportunity, through the now-defunct CASS Program, led me to Appleton, Wisconsin where I obtained an Associate’s degree in Quality Management from Fox Valley Technical College.
I returned to Haiti, taught at my former high school, worked with young people in my Church and the surrounding community, and also held positions in the food production and manufacturing sectors. Those experiences allowed me to open my eyes on numerous other opportunities and expanded my educational and professional aspirations.
I decided to advance with my education, by returning to Wisconsin to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Marian University (which was known back then as Marian College of Fond du Lac). My main goal was the pursuit of a bachelor’s degrees in Operations Management and Information Technology. Three years later, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Management and Marketing.
Following graduation, I worked as a bilingual Customer Care and Sales Representative for West Business Services. That experience allowed me to consider different professional aspirations. While I was transitioning towards the pursuit of a master’s degree, one of my former professors had a series of conversations with me about career interests. She introduced me to the world of Higher Education Administration, particularly TRIO programs. Before those conversations, I did not know there could be a place for me in Higher Education.
I am forever thankful to Dr. Bornstein-Forst for paving the way for me in Higher Education.
I completed a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and Quality at Marian University while I worked for the McNair Scholars Program. Some of my main duties included student recruitment as well as the organization and promotion of program activities within the institution. Through that experience, I learned many new concepts and approaches relating to management and marketing in the higher education sector.
Working in higher education, for more than a decade now, has been my most rewarding personal and professional endeavor. It gave me an opportunity to discover the ways in which I can positively impact others.
